De Wereldreis van een Jeep, by Han van Gelder
Han van Gelder is the artist on the comic 'De Wereldreis van een Jeep', written by H.G. Haakenhout and published by Publisher Vondel in Amsterdam around 1945. Van Gelder is best known for his work in films though. He initially followed a technical education, but he always spent a lot of time drawing. He went to work at the animation department of the Toonder Studios in 1948, and stayed there for nearly ten years. During this period, he also worked for Joop Geesink's "Dollywood" studios. He got in touch with filmer Bert Haanstra and specialized in technical animation. He went to work as a freelance animator in 1962. Until 1990, he produced dozens of, mainly educational, films. He is one of the first producers who showed moving dinosaurs in his films, long before Jurassic Park, in 1967. He retired from films in the 1990s, and took on painting and drawing again.
