Gary Cooper - The Oregon Trail (The Jester, 28 August 1937)

Alan Gelli was a British commercial artist who worked for titles published by the Amalgamated Press in the 1930s. His work included 'Pluck of the Legion' for Crackers, 'Riders of Red Circle' and a series of 'Gary Cooper' western stories for The Jester, 'Mystery of Plunder Island' for Jingles and 'Captain Scarlett', 'Brownie' and 'Gulliver's Travels' for Tip Top. Some of his stories found their way to Canadian newspaper Le Samedi in the 1950s.
