Jan Gissberg is a Swedish animator and comic artist. Coming from Stockholm, he attended art school and began his career in the field of animation. He has produced, directed and animated for films and TV series like 'Agaton Sax', 'Pelle Svanslös' and 'Kalle Stropp', often in cooperation with producer Stig Lasseby.

He is also one of the most popular artists for the 91:an comic book, where he is one of the artists of the title comic. Gissberg is additionally one of the artists of the 'Lilla Fridolf' series and the co-creator of the late 1970s comic 'Aron Rapp' with Magnus Knutsson.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
