French illustrator Godefroy contributed to the picture story prints of the Imagerie Quantin in Paris (a.o. 'Le Portrait de Claudine', 'Le Crocodile Compatissant'). The stories, often fairytales or educational, were made in the tradition of the Images d'Épinal.
