Erik de Graaf was born in Vlaardingen. He has been drawing since he could hold a pencil, but it wasn't until 2003 before he made his debut as a comic artist. Erik draws autobiographical stories about his childhood memories. By the end of 2005, four books by him were published by Oog & Blik and de Harmonie: 'Verbleekte Herinneringen', 'Gekleurd Geheugen', 'Gevonden Verleden' (nominated for 'de Stripschapsprijs 2004') and 'Verzamelde Herinneringen' (a collection of his first three books). One of his stories appeared in the Drawn and Quarterly Showcase #2. Erik de Graaf works as a creative director at a design agency.
In November 2005 Lambiek exhibited illustrations by de Graaf which were related to his books. Together with the exhibition appeared the booklet 'Ingelijste Herinneringen', in a signed, limited edition. At that time he was also working on a new graphic novel about World War II.
