Chuck Groenink was born in the north of the Netherlands. He attended the Artez Institute of Visual Arts in Kampen, graduating from the department of illustration in 2004. In 2007 he received the Fiep Westendorp stimulation award from the Fiep Westendorp foundation, which was intended to let young illustrators be able to work on personal projects. He has drawn for the children's magazine Fieperdefiep and also provided illustrations to children's books.
Groenink has published his work in BoekieBoekie magazine, Mijn naam is Haas, NRC Handelsblad, Querido, Flow Magazine, De Volkskrant, Zone 5300 and Oog Voor Welstand magazine. One of his few comics was 'De vijver' for Het Salon 2007. After traversing the country a couple of times with all his belongings, he left the Netherlands in October 2010 and is now living in Portland, Oregon.
