Gwon Ga-ya

(b. 1966, Korea)

Namja Iyagi, by Gwon Ga-ya
Gwon Ga-ya is one of the new generation of Korean comics artists. With his debut comic 'Haewa Dal' ('The Sun and the Moon') in 1995, he astonished the readers of IQ Jump magazine with his style. Although this series addresses to a juvenile audience, certain scenes are too difficult and impressing for readers of that age, such as the death of the main hero's pregnant companion. Gwon Ga-ya didn't try to create a harsh combat series, he just wanted to show his own world. He cancelled the series, when he found it became to didactic. He continued with a science-fiction and combat comic, entitled 'Namja Iyagi' ('History of Men').
