Dean Haspiel was nominated for an Eisner for his ground-breaking semi-auto-bio comix: 'Opposable Thumbs', about a born-and-bred New Yorker and the trials and tribulations of living in the big bad city. He was also nominated for an Ignatz for 'Aim to Dazzle', featuring Billy Dogma.

Dino, as Dean is often called, is working on a 'Luna Moth' story for Michael Chabon's Dark Horse anthology, 'The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist'. Other major credits include 'Bizarro Comics', 'Batman Adventures' and 'Justice League Adventures' for DC Comics, 'Muties', 'Spider-Man's Tangled Web', 'X-Men Unlimited', 'Captain America: Red, White and Blue' and 'The Thing: Night Falls on Yancy Street' for Marvel, and Harvey Pekar's 'American Splendor' for Dark Horse.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
