Jon Haward was born in Norwich, Nofrolk in 1965. He studied graphic design at Lowestoft College. He worked shortly as an illustrator/designer for an advertising agency, before he went freelance. He has illustrated a great many children's books, comics, newspaper strips, card games and storyboards. He has illustrated comics with 'Sooty', 'Biker Mice from Mars', 'Dan Dare', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'Thunderbirds', 'Judge Dredd', 'Tales of Telguuth', 'Shinobi', and 'Spectacular Spider-Man'. In 1999, he launched his own characters in America together with scriptwriter Alan Grant in the series 'The Hell Crew', which appears in Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated Magazine. Haward has also made designs for computer games and themepark attraction rides.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
