Born in Verviers, Belgium, Robert Hénen attended the Institut Sain-Michel and the Superior School of Fine Arts in Liège (1948-51). After completing his military service, he went to work as a decorator in a department store in Verviers. In 1959 he emigrated to Canada, and worked as a designer, illustrator and concept artist for Expo 67 as well as several advertising agencies. |

In 1971 he created the characters 'Bob et Lili', the mascots of Safari, the children's supplement of Montréal-Matin. He also made comic stories with these characters between late 1971 and 1973. Later, Hénen created the science-fiction comic 'Sharade, Aventurière de l'Espace' of which two albums appeared in 1974 and 1975. Hénen then focused on illustrations for educational material and scriptwriting for theater. |
