Hernán Vidal, best known as Hervi, has published in most of the main humorous and political publications of his country since the 1960s. He began his career in a juvenile supplement of El Mercurio, drawing the comic 'El Doctor Jeringotti'. He then assisted 'Condorito' artist Pepo for a a couple of years and eventually joined El Pingüino. Hervi drew political cartoons for the magazine Hoy, since its first issue in 1977. In the 1980s, he drew 'Super Cifuentes' for La Bicilceta, and began collaborations with La Tercera. Hervi's work also appeared abroad, such as in the Italian and Spanish editions of Playboy, as well as the Spanish magazine El Jueves.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
