Stéphane Heuet worked in the navy for seven years, before he gave an artistic direction to his career. He became artistic director of an advertising company, a function he maintained for fifteen years. During this period, he also made several advertising comics and drawings for advertisements on television. Fascinated by the oeuvre of Marcel Proust, Heuet got the idea to adapt Proust's work into comics. The first book of Heuet's adaption of 'A la Recherche du Temps Perdu', appeared in 1998.
