Knights and Squire

James Hodgkins has a background in graphic design and illustration and entered the comic book field in the early 1990s. His first work was for DC's 'Black Canary' comic. He continued his partnership with DC as an inker on many of the company's titles, most notably 'Batman' and 'Catwoman', but also 'Lucifer', 'Superboy', 'Jenny Sparks' and 'JSA'.

He was also present at Marvel with stints on 'Spider-Man: Get Kraven' and 'Daredevil'. Outside of comics, Hodgkins was a production illustrator on the set of the 'Batman Begins' movie. He also made a great many illustrations for Topps' 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Star Wars' collector's card series.

Hodgkins later "reinvented" himself as comic book penciler Jimmy Broxton, although the artist has always denies this claim, which led to a lot of internet rumour. Under this name, he has worked on DC/Vertigo's 'The Unwritten' with Mike Carey, Paul Cornell's 'Knight and Squire' mini-series for DC Comics, as well as a run of short stories for Dark Horse Comics Presents with writer Martin Conaghan.

Hodgkins/Broxton has also worked on a variety of projects through online crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, such as the successful 'Sex and Violence'. He teamed up with Guy Adams to develop the ambitious 'Goldtiger' project, a collection of a fictional 60s newspaper comic, complete with biographical details and backgrounds of its just as fictional authors Antonio Barreti and Louis Shaeffer.
