Tsukasa Hôjo was born in Kita-Kyushu. In 1978, his manga 'Space Angel' won him the grand Tezuka prize. His follow-up manga, 'Ore wa Otoko da', appeared in 1980, and a year later came 'Cat's Eye'. In 1983, he wrote the first two stories of the 'City Hunter' saga, but it was from 1985 to 1991 that the series was actually published in 35 books. In addition to 'City Hunter', he made short stories, like 'Splash' and 'Taxi Driver'. Afterwards, he experimented in several genres with mangas like 'Rash', 'Sakura no Hanasaki kukoro', 'Beneath the Dappled Shade' ('Komorebi no Moto de...') and 'Parrot - The Blessed Man' ('Parrot - Koufuku no Hito' ). He then began the serial 'Angel Heart'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
