Daisuké Igarashi was born in Saitama. Known as an innovative storyteller, he began publishing his fantastical stories in 1993. Igarashi draws inspiration from folklore and nature combined with surrealism, like in his critically acclaimed works like 'Majo' ('Witches'). Another one of his works, 'Little Forrest', was nominated for the Osamu Tezuka Culture Award in 2005. For the manga anthology, he made the story 'The Sea Monster's Children'.
