La Licorne, by Anthony Jean

Anthony Jean was born in Puyricard, Bouches-du-Rhône. He showed an early talent for arts, but initially ambitioned a career in science. However, he ended up in a Lyon-based art school, where he learned the finer points of comics, illustrations, animation and infographics. Graduated in 2004 and inspired by the American school, especially Todd McFarlane, he presented his comic work to the publishing house Delcourt. His first exploit was a contribution to the collective book 'Le grimoire du petit peuple' in 2005. The publisher hooked him up with scriptwriter Mathieu Gabella, with whom he launched the fantasy series 'La Licorne', that consists of four book published between 2006 and 2012.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
