Gintaras Jocius was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1970. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius and graduated in 1994, specializing in stage design. He became an illustrator and graphic designer, working for leading publishing house Alma Littera and other Lithuanian publishers such as Tverme, Gamta, Rosma, Meralas, Zara and Genys, as well as the Americab Palmtree Publishing. He also created comics, such as the series 'Gintaro Kelias'. He has also done the artwork on the book 'The Viking raid on Apuole' by Skomantas. Gintaras Jocius is a member of the artist collective Mad Line.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
