'Piel de Celuloide' (Rambla #30)
Eduardo Díaz Juliano, penname Kaffa, is a Latin-American artist who settled in Spain and worked in independent comics during the 1980s and 1990s. In the first half of the 1980s Kaffa was a member of the group that self published the fanzine Zero Comics. He was there with Das Pastoras, Beroy, Pascual Ferry and other beginners who would soon become professionals. In 1983 he joined Rambla where he published a few short stories often teaming up with his wife Margarita.
He also published in Rambla Quincenal, Rampa and Madriz. His serial 'Humfry Birra' was published in Madriz in 1991. His work has been published in France (Metal Hurlant), the USA (Heavy Metal, Byron Press), Italy (Comic Art) and Holland (Magic Strip). Kaffa was one of various Spanish artists recruited by publisher Kodânsha to work for the Japanese market in the 1990s. As a result he serialized 'Planeta Viviente' in Japanese magazine Morning for a few years during this decade.
