Henricus Kannegieter

Henricus Kannegieter was born in Amsterdam, where he went to school and studied architecture in 1917-1919, during which period he learned painting. After his education he became a technical graphic artist at the Holland America Lijn in Rotterdam. Later he founded his own architecture company in Haarlem. A lot of his architectural work was destroyed in the bombing of Rotterdam during the second World War.

He produced a considerable number of comics, including 'Van Rommelzak en Hobbeltje' (1932/33), 'Tom de Negerjongen' (1933), 'Drein Drentel en Piet Prikkel' (1934/35), 'Columbus de Ontdekker van Amerika' (1936) and 'De Avontuurlijke Lotgevallen van Jimmy in Zonneland' (1946/47).
