Born in Dillsboro, Jackson County, North Carolina, Tack Knight moved to San Francisco in 1913. He was apparently already cartooning for the local paper, the Waynesville Enterprise, in 1910. He attended the Mary Hopkins Institute of Art and continued his newspaper career at the Oakland Tribune in 1914. He drew sports and commercial art, and did animated cartooning. He ghosted for Gene Byrnes on the newspaper strip 'Reg'lar Fellers' from 1924 to 1929 and created 'My Big Brudder' for Dell Publishing. He created the syndicated newspaper strips 'Baby Sister' (1929) and 'Little Folks' (1930). His animation credits include Disney, Fleischer and KGO-TV.
