One of the early Norwegian comics artists, Sverre Knudsen is the author of the series 'Mass og Lasse', that appeared in Børnetidende from 1919. 'Mass of Lasse' was, just like Jan Lunde's 'Skomaker Bekk', a variation of 'The Katzenjammer Kids'. Unlike most of his contemporaries, Knudsen wrote the text inside the panels, instead of underneath them. Therefore, the series can be seen as the first modern Norwegian comic series.
