Frederic Isaac Leipziger was born in Stockholm, Sweden, but eventually settled in Detroit, where he became a cartoonist with The Detroit News. He drew the daily family comedy strip 'Doings of the Van Loons' for the McClure newspaper syndicate from 1910 to 1925. It was the first contractual daily strip, a strip that a syndicate paid to have produced 6 times per week, 52 weeks per year. |
