Johannes Hermanus Lutz worked mainly as a freelance illustrator of children's books and magazines. Some of his titles are 'De Avonturen van Daantje Hap en Z'n Vrienden' (Algemeen Handelsblad, 1925), 'Reus Boem' (in De Engelbewaarder), 'Bobo, het Eskimojongetje' (written by Bernard Reith, 1947), and 'Wilko, De Zoon van de Roofridder' (in Katholieke Illustratie, 1954-1955).
