Elya by Gianluca Maconi

Gianluca Maconi was born in Pordenone in 1977. He graduated from the State Art Institute of this city in 1996 and later attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he graduated in sculpting in 2003. He is active in several artistic disciplines, including sculpting, decoration, animation and illustration.

He has contributed to the "prozine" Lattepiù and the magazine Auagnamagnugna, and has also conceived the graphics for CD's of local bands. He has made a promotional comic for Grizz & Fizz in Jamboree magazine, and is the creator of the Capitán Jive logo.

His comic 'Le Ombre Della Laguna' was awarded during the Torinocomics festival in 2004. In 2005 he drew 'I delitti di Alleghe' from a script by Andrés Maraviglia, followed by 'El caso Pasolini', for the collection Cronaca Nera of BeccoGiallo. He contributed 'Albergo Cinque Stelle to the anthology about immigration 'Fortezza Europa' by Coniglio Editore in 2007, and in that same year he made 'Aztlan' for Safarà Editore and the short story 'La Casa di Alice' with Luca Vanzella for Selfcomics.

Maconi has made a comic adaptation of the Chinese novel 'Journey to the West' ('Viaggio verso occidente') for Lavieri, and has worked with scriptwriters Alessandro Cenni and Alex Crippa on the series 'Mediterranea' for GGstudio since 2009. For the French publisher Soleil, Maconi draws the series 'Elya, les brumes d'Asceltis' and 'Elfes' in cooperation with scriptwriter Nicolas Jarry since 2012.
