Miyako Maki is a pioneer in shoujo manga. She made her debut in 1958 with 'Hahakoi Warutsu', published by Toukoudou. Other titles are 'Maki no Kuchibue', 'Go Gatsu Yami', 'Seiza no Onna', 'Tennyo-tachi no Yoru' and 'Mahiru Rarabai'. She married mangaka Leiji Matsumoto and made only few mangas afterwards. She is the creator of the doll 'Licca-chan', the Japanese equivalent of Barbie. |
