Mankenn

Born in Paraguay, Mankenn (Victor Braxator) spent most of his life and career in Argentina. He debuted in the magazine Asalto in 1960 and 1961 and created the comic 'Amigos' for Casco de Acero in 1963. During the 1960s he was also publishing in Lupín, Parabrisas and Automundo, where he showcased his talent for drawing cars.

He then drew for the Hector L. Torino comics 'La barra de Pascualín' and 'El conventillo de Don Nicola', before joining the humorous magazines published by Editorial Adolfo Mazzone, such as Capicúa, Afanancio and Cariseca. His best known creation is the character 'Fitito', who got its own title called Las travesías de Fitito.

In the 1970s, Mankenn illustrated episodes of 'Meteoro', 'Carlín Cometa', 'El Pibe Maravilla' and 'Lock Olmo', and he was also present in the Billiken supplement El Clan de Mac Perro with 'Pepe Pistón' and 'Biela Fundida'. In the following decade he was mainly drawing for the magazine Caras y Caretas and the daily newspaper Democracia. By 1987 he filled the magazine El Gran Pirulo together with Jorge Toro for publisher Cielosur.

The artist has worked for publishers and magazines in Italy (Skorpio, Lanciostory), France, Spain and Germany. He was an art director with the Jaime Diaz Studio and worked on animation series by Hanna-Barbera and Ruby Spears, including 'Galtar and the Golden Lance', 'Scooby Doo', 'The Jetsons' and 'The Smurfs'.

Braxator was also drawing in the realistic genre, as he showed in his contributions to Corto Maltes ('El hombre del carrito', 1978) and Nippur Mágnum ('El viejo', 1994) and in episodes of 'Jungla de asfalto'.
