Jerry Marcus was the author of the syndicated newspaper comic 'Trudy'. He dropped out of high school and joined the merchant marine in 1943, and eventually joined the Navy. He graduated from the Cartoonists and Illustrators School in New York City after World War II and supported himself with freelance work for magazines. He soon appeared in such national magazines as The New Yorker, Look, Saturday Evening Post and Ladie's Home Journal. His 'Trudy' strip debuted in 1963, and it is distributed to more than 75 newspapers by King Features Syndicate. The main character, Trudy, a traditional American homemaker, juggles her time to manage the house, her husband, their children and their pets, most notably the family cat, 'Fatkat'.
Jerry Marcus died on 22 July 2005, following a long illness, in Waterbury, Connecticut at the age of 81.
