Le Bleu est une couleur chaude by Julie Maroh
Le Bleu est une couleur chaude

Julie Maroh is a French graphic novel artist, originally from the north of France. She spent 8 years in Brussels, Belgium, where she attended the Saint-Luc art institute and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. She self-published three collections of intimate stories before embarking on her full-length graphic novel 'Le bleu est une couleur chaude' ('Blue is the warmest color'). This sensitive and engaging story about female homosexuallity and its acceptance in today's society was published by Glénat in 2010.

A film based on the book, called 'La vie d'Adèle', won the Palme d'Or during the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. The author was not pleased with the film's graphic sex scenes, however, calling them too incomprehensible and ridiculous for a heterosexual audience and too not convincing for the gay and queer audience. Julie Maroh currently resides in Angoulême, France.
