Caramel

Patrice Marsaudon studied plastic arts and began his career doing illustrations for advertising agencies, banks and city halls. He is the author of the comic series about the horse 'Caramel', which he created for the French girl's magazine Cheval Star in 1991. He has also done illustrations, games and puzzles for the magazine. He stopped working on his series in 2004. He then cooperated on Spirou magazine with the comic 'My Dad is a gangster' (script by Falzar).

At the same time, the 'Caramel' comic began a career abroad. The comic is widely syndicated over the world, and has appeared in England (Horse & Pony), Spain (Mundo del Caballo), Italy (Mondo Erre), Canada (Horse Country), Australia (Horsewyse), USA (Iguana magazine), Poland (Swiatkoni), Mexico (Eres Nino) and India (Chutti Vikatan).

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
