Comic art by Nikola Maslovara

Nikola Maslovara was born in Odzaci, West-Backa. He graduated from theNovi Sad art school in 1972. Masli has published caricatures since 1969 and comic books since 1972. He has lived in Milanovac since 1979, where he worked as a art editor for the children's publications of  Dečje Novine. His comics have appeared in magazines like Politikin zabavnik, Biser strip, Strip zabavnik, Yu strip and Gigant. Among his comic characters are 'Detektiv Lakonogic', 'Fijuksi', 'Ungl-gungl', 'Mrka' and 'Barba Plima'.

During the 1980s he also worked extensively on licensed comic properties like 'Il Grande Blek', 'Tom & Jerry', 'Pink Panther' and 'Mickey Mouse'. He was also part of the art team of the comic book series Yupi Stars' in 1988. He has exhibited his work in many major Yugoslav comic and cartoon expositions.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
