Matteo Alemanno studied architecture and after his studies, he went to work at several architect agencies. In 1996, he started working as a decorator. From 1998, he cooperated on the Italian magazine Il Messaggero dei Ragazzi and he worked for the American publisher Boyds Mills Press. He specialized in historical illustration and made illustrations for school books at the publishing houses Mondadori Scuoli, Carlo Signorelli Editore and Einaudi Ragazzi. He created his first comics in the magazine Schizzo in the 1990s. In 2000, he started the series 'Mèche Rebelle' with scripts by Zidrou in Spirou.
