Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, Shawn McManus entered the comic book field in the early 1980s. Amongst his early credits are issues of 'Swamp Thing', 'Omega Men', 'Batman', 'Doctor Fate' and some limited series about 'Thessaly' written by Bill Willingham. He was a contributor to Neil Gaiman's epic 'The Sandman', drawing most of 'A Game of You' and issues of 'The Sandman Presents'. He has also contributed to the 'Tom Strong' series for America's Best Comics. For Heavy Metal magazine, he cooperated maong others with Bhob Stewart on 'Zenobia' and 'Symbiosis' in 1983.
McManus has drawn for Marvel's 'Peter Parker Spider-Man Annual '97' and an issue of 'Daredevil', and also worked for a variety of other publishers, such as Atomeka Press (A1), Dark Horse ('Cheval Noir'), Exhibit A Press ('Wolff & Byrd: Counselors of the Macabre'), First Comics ('GrimJack'), Image ('Supreme'), Malibu ('The Man Called A-X') and DC's Paradox Press ('The Big Book of Freaks'). He has worked with J.H. Williams III on Leah Moore and John Reppion's 'Wild Girl', a mini-series published by Wildstorm in 2004-2005.
