Gaspar Meana Gonzalez is a cartoonist, illustrator and writer from Asturia, the autonomous community in nort-west Spain. He attended the Oviedo School of Arts, where he gradauted in commercial arts in 1985. His best-known work is 'La Crónica de Leodegundo', an extensive comics chronicle on the Asturian monarchy and the history of Europe, Mahgreb and the Middle East in the eighth and ninth centuries. The saga consists of 25 comic books of 48 pages each, written in Asturian language and published between 1991 and 2006. Edicions UIB published the first volume of the collected work in 2013.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
