Alona y los otros by Rafael Morante Boyerizo

Rafael Morante Boyerizo is a Cuban painter, graphic designer and comics author. He was born in Madrid, Spain, but his family moved to Cuba in 1940, as a result of the Spanish Civil War. He began his professional career in 1956. Morante is one of the leading poster artists for the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC). He has also worked for the Editora Nacional de Cuba and the Cuban Books Institute.

Morante has participated in the creation of animated films, and has made illustrations for magazines like Cine Cubano and Tricontinental. He is the author of the comic story 'Alona y Los Otros', that ran in Cómicos in 1988, and was also published in Costa Rica, Mexico and Bolivia. He is also the author of the futuristic story '2031'. He has additionally worked as a drawing teacher.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
