From Eerie, by Pepe Moreno 1979

Pepe Moreno's early comics appeared in his native Spain in horror magazine S.O.S in the 1970s. He also drew for the children's magazines Pumby and Pulgarcito and in Star. Then he worked for the Italian Bliz. In late 1977, he moved to the USA although he couldn't speak English at all. His reputation grew from his short stories in magazines Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella. At the time he co-created the underground publication NART. Then he published in Epic, National Lampoon and Heavy Metal. His first graphic novel was 'Generation Zero' (although this serial wouldn't appear in that format until 1992) In the early 1980s he got the help of French publisher Albin Michel to produce his graphic novels 'Rebel' and 'Joe's Air Force'. Then followed his fourth one, 'Gene Kong'.

Pepe Moreno created 'Batman: Digital Justice', a batman graphic novel created entirely on a Macintosh and published in 1990 by DC Comics. In 1993 Moreno completed 'Hellcab', an interactive time travel adventure on CD-ROM, published by the Time Warner Interactive Group. HellCab was designed as a mainstream Hollywood-like title and in that sense won the title the number one rating for 1993 in Billboard Magazine. Two additional titles were completed later.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
