Askell, by Jean-Louis Mourier

Jean-Louis Mourier attended the School of Applied Arts in Paris, and began his career working as a commercial artist in 1984. In 1987, he drew his first illustrations for Tintin Reporter, which remained unpublished, since the magazine was about to cease publication. On the occasion of an exposition in the Rodin museum, he made a comics biography of the sculptor in 1990, which was published in the information booklet. In Marseille, he met Scotch Arleston, with whom he began the heroic fantasy series 'Les Feux d'Askell' for Soleil in 1993. Four years later, Mourier and Arleston created 'Trolls de Troy', published in Lanfeust Mag.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
