Flamed-out Funnies, by Willy Murphy

Willy Murphy was an underground comix artist during the 1960s and 1970s. He produced a series of comix called 'SF Underground Comix'. His favorite targets of humor were the people around in the San Francisco hippie communities. Murphy's work cleared the way for the underground comix scene, influencing several artists, especially Gilbert Shelton and Paul Mavrides.

Murphy worked for eight years as a copywriter for two major publishing agencies in New York City. In the last two years of his life, he drew for Arcade and the National Lampoon. After his death, Rip Off Press published a series of comix called 'Flamed-out Funnies'. The content of this series is a collection of comic strips drawn by Willy Murphy over the last seven years of his life and was edited by Ted Richards with the help of Gilbert Shelton.
