Jacques Lehmann Nam was known primarily for his paintings and illustrations of animal subjects, mostly cats. During his life, he exhibited his works at the Salon d'Automne, and at the National Gallery of Beaux Arts since 1906. Nam was an illustrator for French magazines in the early 20th Century.

He illustrated for La Vie Parisienne (around 1915) and contributed comic pages to Le Petit Journal Illustré de la Jeunesse (around 1905). During World War I, he illustrated several comics for La Baïonnette, like 'Riche Capture', written by Charles Derennes.
