Juan Oliva was born in Spain, but lived all his professional life in Buenos Aires. He was a pioneer of Argentine animation cartoons. He also made some comics, like 'El Marqués de Puerto Nuevo', and others, which he signed with his real name, Juan Oliva. In the 1930s, he drew the 'Rendija' series in Mundo Argentino. This comic was in fact one big advertisement for cigarettes.
