Blame

Tsutomo Nihei is a manga artist, who works in a cyberpunk style. He is best known for the cult manga serial 'Blame!', which was published in Afternoon between 1998 and 2003. The series' prequel was the police series 'NOiSE', published in Afternoon in 2001. Other popular serials by Nihei are 'Biomega' (Ultra Jump, 2004-09), 'Abara' (Ultra Jump, 2005-06) and 'The Knight of Cydonia' (Afternoon).

Besides a couple of one shot stories for Ultra Jump and the graphic novel 'Halo: Breaking Quarantine', Nihei has also drawn the 5-issue mini-series 'Wolverine: Snikt!' for Marvel Comics. Several series have also been published in France, Spain, Germany, the US and Italy.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
