Frederick Noland was born in Ventura, California. He made his comic debut in local mini-anthology 'Wood-eye' in 1995, where he published his work until 1998. Among his self-published titles are 'Expanded Zero', 'Full Frontal McSurly' and 'Shpilkes', which has won Noland the prestigious Xeric Grant in 2000.
