Giancarlo Olivares took courses in comics by the Argentine artist Ruben Sosa, following his technical studies. From 1991, he cooperated on the collective albums 'Profondo Rosso' and 'Full Moon Project' with other young artists from the Brescia area. Olivares subsequently made some short stories with scriptwriter Federico Memola for Intrepido, before he became one of the artists of 'Lazarus Ledd' and 'Hammer' stories at Star Comics. He also became the cover artist of these series. Afterwards, he joined the art staffs of the Bonelli series 'Nathan Never', 'Legs Weaver' and 'Jonathan Steele'. He has worked with the French scriptwriter Jean-François di Giorgio on the historical series 'L'Or des Fous' at Soleil Productions since 2012.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop.
However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
