Tenax

José María Ortiz is a comic arist from Valencia. In the 1950s he drew 'Roy Clark' in Comandos (Ed. Valenciana), and contributed to Fanvencia collections like 'Aventuras de Guerra' and 'Historias de Guerra'. Together with writer Pedro Muñoz he contributed to the Grafidea collections 'Cuatro Capitanes' and 'Jarko, el Temible'. As an agency artist, he has worked on French series like 'Cinq As', 'Marino' (in Zembla), 'Scotland Yard', 'Tenax' and 'Super Boy'

José Ortiz Tafalla was the artist of the 'Los Trotamundos' comic, which he made with scriptwriter Eugenio Sotillos for agency Interpubli. The series featured four travelling teenagers (three boys and a girl) whose adventures happened in different countries. A Spanish edition was published in 1985.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
