Jimena Padilla was born in the Mexican Federal District. Since 1993, she has taken many courses, among others in comics, photography, traditional animation and drawing. She has contributed to alternative publications like fanzines (a.o. her own Comí-Comix and Perk 7), as well as magazines like Pusmoderna, Gallito Cómics, Sub, Número Blumpi and Complot from 1995. She has worked on animation projects with Héctor Pachecho and Carolina Esparragoza from 1996 to 1998, and in later years also on projects for universities and television. Padilla has done storyboards and illustrations for agencies like Walter Thompson, Guillermo Quevedo Publicidad, Cines 3, Valle y Asoc, and Diseño Quimera, has cooperated with the photographer Guillermo Kalho, and has participated in several animation projects.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
