Romila the Velvet Girl by Lode Pemmelaar

Lode Pemmelaar was a Dutch painter who spent most of his life in Frisia. He was born in Rotterdam and educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague from 1960 to 1965. He was specialized in painting objects in an abstract stylized style. He additionally painted landscapes and made art objects and paintings from unfolded boxes.

He was active as a comic artist until 1971. He participated in the 'Wordt Vervolgd' exhibition in Rotterdam in 1971, and was the co-author of the comic story 'Romila, The Velvet Girl' with the Canadian Ron Boyce. It was published in Aloha and Werkkrant (1969-1971). He passed away in Leeuwarden in 1997.
