Claudio Piccoli followed art courses in Milan in 1975, before he joined the art studios of Giuseppe Montanari. He began his comics career working for Ediperiodici. He drew comics for Lanciostory and Skorpio from 1979 to 1986. He then returned to Ediperiodici, where he assisted Montanari. Piccoli drew for magazines like Tiramolla, Il Corrierino, before he began a versatile cooperation with Il Giornalino in 1994. He joined the publishing house Bonelli the same year, where he started out doing a few 'Martin Mystère' episodes. He then became an artist of the series 'Napoleone', 'Nick Raider' and 'Julia'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
