Wendy and Richard Pini created the succesful comic series 'Elfquest'. The stories describe the adventures of a group of elves searching for a new home. The first saga containing 21 issues, self published by WaRP (Wendy and Richard Pini), appeared in the spring of 1978. The stories contain autobiographical elements, set in a fairytale world, which is vast and complicated with lots of personages. The popular saga still continues today with many spin-off series, reprints, and new mini-series.
Wendy Pini, born Wendy Fletcher, contributed several covers and illustrations to Galaxy Science Fiction and Galileo magazines in the mid-1970s, before launching 'Elfquest'. In addition to 'Elfquest', she also created two issues of a comic-book adaptation of the TV series 'Beauty and the Beast' (First Comics) and has illustrated occasional stories for both Marvel Comics (Epic Illustrated, Triton) and DC Comics. Richard Pini, who had been a professional astronomer, is co-writer and editor on Elfquest and deals with all of the publishing and business aspects of Warp Graphics.
