Comic art by Ville Pirinen

Ville Pirinen is a Finnish comic artist, illustrator and musician. He published his first book, 'Nahka-Alma', with Irisz Simon in 1993. Between 1995 and 2008 he has worked with Finnish scriptwrtier Pauli Kallio on the comic about notorious DJ Ornette Birks Makkonen. He has subsequently created a series of comics that are based on weird stories he or his friends have heard. They are collected in books like 'Yhesti yhes neljännes paikas' (2011), 'Yhesti yhes kolmannes paikas', (2010), 'Yhesti yhes toises paikas' (2010) and 'Yhesti yhes paikas' (2009).

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
