Jean-Claude Poirier started his career in the early 1960s in Bibi Fricotin, illustrating the comic adaptation of the adventures of the clown Achille Zavatta. In 1967, he created the series 'Maximax' for the periodical Paul et Mic, and later Quinze Ans. Two years later, he made a daily comic about the Tour de France in L'Équipe. At the same time, he worked for Record on the series 'Cactus Papa', together with Jacques Lob. Between 1967 and 1968 he worked with Gianni de Luca on 'Klap' for Ed. Kangourou. In 1970, he joined the editorial team of magazine Pif Gadget, where he started the series about the horse 'Horace' and 'Supermatou'. In 1978, two years before his death, Poirier created 'Charlotte Poireau' in Tintin.
