John Porcellino was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is one of the mini-comics most talented cartoonists ever. He began self-publishing little comic books in 1982, and started his famous 'King-Cat Comics and Stories' in 1989.

His drawing style is simple and straightforward, made up completely of thin black lines with no shading. 'King Cat' has also been collected in books by La Mano and Drawn & Quarterly, and in several anthologies. There are additionally 'King-Cat' books available from several European publishers, such as B.u.L.b. in Switzerland, Reprodukt in Germany and Ego Comme X in France.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
